In 1951 Robert "Bob" Hoye returned from the Korean War and with a wife and newborn son to needing to make some extra money he chose to make some extra bucks moonlighting as a prizefighter.
After a brief stint as a professional boxer he decided to teach and pass on his knowledge to family and friends in the neighborhood.
When Bobs oldest son Bobby came of age Bob began to pass on to him and younger son Frank the Sweet Science of Boxing. Older son Bobby started making a name for himself locally and nationally earning a spot at the 1972 Eastern Olympic Trials, he turned professional the same year and compiled a 19-1 career before facing 1972 Olympic Gold medalist for a national title and chance to face World Champion Marvin Hagler.
After his professional career ended in 1984 Bobby returned to Monroe Michigan and began to also teach the next generation of aspiring fighters, of which one of his sons Robert Joseph "Rico" began his own boxing journey winning his 1st amateur fight at the Toledo OH, Golden Gloves tournament. After turning professional in 2001 Rico compiled an impressive 18-0 record earning a shot at the Light heavyweight Championship of the World. Robert Rico Hoye (3rd generation) retired from the sport in 2015 and began to train young aspiring boxers in Phoenix Arizona.
The Hoye family has been providing top-notch boxing training and fitness programs to the local community for over 60 years. In 2005, After seeing his passion for sharing what he learned from his Grandfather, Father and Amazing Mentors to kids Tamirra Hoye-Hatten came up with the Acronym for H.O.Y.E. Helping Our Youth Excel and after his official retirement from the sport began to fulfill a promise to his Grandfather and boxing mentors to pass the torch and knowledge to the next generation of aspiring boxers.
Our team of trainers and state-of-the-art facility have helped numerous individuals achieve their fitness and competitive goals.
Our trainer is former #1 ranked Light Heavyweight champion Rico Hoye. Rico was almost born into the sport of boxing. Rico Hoye grandfather Robert Bob Hoye was a former prizefighter who passed on the legacy of boxing to his son Bobby, In 1980 Bob took his grandson to see his father compete at the Olympia auditorium in Detroit Michigan and that began young Rico dream of becoming a professional boxer. After retiring from the sport in 2014 Rico began his journey into the health and wellness industry earning An Asshociates degree in Therapeutic massage as well as earning his NASM and ISSA certifications for Personal Training.
